Frequently Asked Questions

Which platforms are supported?

DocuTag is a universal Apple app. Consult the compatibility information provided with the app for the currently supported devices and operating-system versions.

Which document formats are supported?

The document picker shows the formats supported by the installed version and your device. Format availability can vary by platform and source.

How does OCR work?

DocuTag uses Apple technologies to perform OCR locally on your device. Clear, legible source material generally produces better text recognition.

How are documents classified?

DocuTag assesses detected information and suggests Public, Internal Use, Confidential, or Restricted. Review the result before relying on it.

Are documents uploaded?

No cloud upload is required for core analysis. User-selected documents remain on the device during the local workflow.

What affects performance?

Document size, page count, image quality, device capability, and the number of selected items can affect processing time.

What does export contain?

The metadata-only export workflow contains classification results and associated metadata, not the imported document contents.

How does licensing work?

Any available license or purchase option is presented inside DocuTag and processed through Apple’s StoreKit infrastructure.

How do I restore purchases?

If the installed version includes a paid entitlement, use its Restore Purchases action with the Apple Account originally used for the purchase.

Troubleshooting

  • Import issues: confirm that the file is available, supported, and accessible through the selected provider.
  • OCR quality: use a clear source with readable text, good contrast, and the correct page orientation.
  • Unexpected classification: review recognized text and assess the document manually before acting on the suggested label.
  • Slow performance: process fewer documents at once, close other intensive apps, or retry on a supported device.
  • Storage warnings: confirm sufficient free device space for temporary workflow needs and user-controlled exports.
  • Export failures: confirm destination access, available storage, and permission to save to the selected location.
